The questions the columns do not answer
Does Sophyix take a cut of what I earn?
Yes — 10% of a completed engagement, taken from the agreed amount when the escrow releases. A $1,000 engagement pays out $900. It covers card processing, the escrow itself and running the platform, and it is the same rate on every plan: no tier buys a lower one, and no tier raises it. Nothing is charged for joining, applying, being invited or being hired — only for work you finish and are paid for.
Do I need a card to start?
No. The Free plan needs no payment details at all, and there is no trial that quietly turns into a charge. You can sign in with Google or Apple and start applying.
How do I pay for a paid plan?
In a browser, through PayPal. In the iPhone and Android apps, through the App Store or Google Play. Whichever you use also manages that subscription afterwards — a plan bought in the App Store is changed and cancelled there, not on the website.
What happens when I run out of an allowance?
That one action pauses until the month rolls over or you move up a plan. Nothing else stops: your profile stays live, invitations keep arriving, you can still reply to anyone who invited you, and every engagement you already have carries on.
Can I change or cancel my plan?
Any time, from the subscription screen in the product. An upgrade takes effect straight away; a downgrade or cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, and you keep the higher allowance until then.
What happens if I stop paying?
You go back to the Free plan and keep everything — your profile, your certifications, your reviews and your engagement history. Only the monthly allowance returns to the free one.
Is a certification attempt the same as registering?
No. Browsing the catalogue and registering for a programme cost nothing. The allowance is spent when you sit the exam, which is also why a resumable attempt does not charge you twice for one interrupted sitting.
