Teach, collaborate, or get hired — on work that comes to you.
Some weeks you want to teach. Some you would rather be handed the work and get on with it. Some you want to build something alongside somebody. Switch on whichever you are up for, and that is the only kind of work Sophyix brings you.
Three offerings, switched on separately
You decide which kinds of work you take — and nobody can approach you on terms you have not set.
Get hired
Take the work end to end, on a fixed scope and an agreed budget.
Teach
Run sessions at the level and cadence you set, in the subjects you pick.
Collaborate
Build alongside someone — funded, bartered, equity, or purely voluntary.
Two ways work reaches you, and you are never chasing it
The hard part of independent work is not the work. It is the hours spent looking for the next piece of it.
A feed of real opportunities, filtered to what you do
Browse briefs that learners and companies have actually written and funded — not scraped listings. Open one, read the person behind it, and send a proposal with your rate, your availability and a cover letter you wrote or had drafted for you.
- Filtered by the offerings you switched on
- See the poster’s profile before you spend a proposal
- Save the ones you are still thinking about
Invitations, and rules that can answer
People invite you directly, and urgent requests arrive as Express invitations. Set an Instant Accept rule — subject, rate floor, how busy you are — and the platform can answer those for you, with a record of every answer so you can check the rules still speak for you.
- Direct and Express invitations
- Rules you write, in your own limits
- Every automatic answer logged and reversible
From switching on to getting paid
Five steps. The last one is the one other platforms leave vague, so it is stated first among equals here: the money is committed before you begin.
Say what you are open to
Switch on teach, collaborate, get hired — or all three — and set the rate, format and terms for each. Nothing goes live until an offering is complete, so nobody approaches you on terms you never agreed.
Build a profile that answers for you
Your background, expertise and availability, drafted with AI from rough notes and edited by you. It is what a learner reads before deciding whether to invite you.
Prove it, if you want the edge
Sit a proctored certification exam in your subject and carry the credential on your profile. Identity is checked at the start and monitored throughout, so the badge means something to the person reading it.
Apply, or be invited
Send proposals to opportunities that fit, and take the invitations that come to you. Message the people you are working with in real time once you are hired.
Deliver and get paid
The engagement is funded into escrow before work starts, so the money is committed before you are. You get a receipt for every engagement, and payouts run through Stripe once your account is verified.
The tools between your expertise and a paid engagement
Finding the work, proving you can do it, agreeing terms and being paid for it are one workflow here, not four things you hold together yourself.
AI that drafts the proposal
A first pass at the cover letter, written against the opportunity in front of you and edited before it goes. The same drafting keeps your profile current.
Proctored certification
Register with photo identity, sit the exam with the camera on, and carry the credential — with its renewal window — on your profile. Not a self-declared badge.
Instant Accept rules
Rules that answer urgent work for you, inside limits you set. They start in Suggest mode and unlock for real once your track record shows they agree with you.
Read the other side first
Open the profile of the person who posted before you spend a proposal on them, so you are choosing the work as deliberately as they are choosing you.
Reviews you can answer
Ratings from finished engagements, your standing across every criterion, and a public reply on any review — so a one-sided account is never the last word.
Real-time messaging
Talk to the people who hired you, with delivery and read receipts, and a history that stays attached to the engagement it belongs to.
Whatever you are good at, there is work here for it
Cabinetry and calculus. Kubernetes and contract law. Film editing and French conversation. Sophyix was never built around one industry, so a specialist is not stuck explaining why their trade belongs.

The money is committed before you are
Every experienced freelancer has been burned once. Sophyix puts the client's funds in escrow before the engagement starts, so the question is never whether the money exists — only whether the work is done.
Funded before you start
A paid engagement is funded into escrow up front. You are not chasing an invoice for work you have already done.
Released on approval, with a receipt
Submit the work, handle revisions, and the release is recorded on a receipt you can open at any time.
Paid out through Stripe, less 10%
Payouts run through Stripe once your account is verified, and the platform tells you exactly what Stripe is still waiting for. Sophyix's 10% comes off the agreed amount at that point — a $1,000 engagement pays out $900 — and nothing is charged before it.
Nothing to join. 10% when the work is done.
Sophyix takes 10% of a completed engagement — the one charge tied to your earnings, and what pays for card processing, the escrow that holds the client's money, and running the platform. Applying, being invited and being hired all cost nothing. The optional plans are separate and buy capacity, never a better rate.
What experts ask before they join
What does it cost to join?
Nothing. The Free plan carries a real monthly allowance of proposals, AI drafts, certification attempts and Instant Accept answers — every figure is on the pricing page
How do I actually get paid?
Through the engagement, not through invoices you chase. A paid engagement is funded into escrow before work starts, released when the work is approved, and recorded on a receipt. Payouts reach your bank through Stripe once your account is verified.
Do I have to be a teacher?
No. Teaching is one of three offerings, and you choose which you switch on. Plenty of people here only take delivered work, or only collaborate. Each offering has its own rate and terms, and you can turn any of them off whenever you want.
What is certification actually for?
It is evidence someone else can check. You register with photo identity, sit the exam under camera proctoring, and the credential sits on your profile with its own validity and renewal window. It is optional — but it is the difference between saying you know a skill and having sat something that says so.
Will I be competing with a thousand other people?
You are shown opportunities matched to what you are open to, and you decide which ones are worth a proposal — you can read the poster’s profile first. Ranking is built from fit, credentials, reliability and how you are reviewed. There is no paid placement: no plan buys a higher position in anyone’s shortlist.
Put your expertise where the work is
Creating an account takes a minute and costs nothing. Switch on what you are open to, and see what comes in.
